Cryotherapy

August 21, 2018

Cryotherapy.

Maybe you've heard of it.  There's definitely been a buzz around cryotherapy created by some pro athletes and other high profile people like Tony Robbins. I'm so excited to have finally tried cryotherapy and the cryofacial for myself!  It seems like these cryochambers are popping up all over the place so it has become very accessible.  It's been on my list of wellness treatments to try for awhile, but I'll be honest, I was a little afraid.  So if you're on the fence about trying this, you're not alone.  This is NOT for you if you are claustrophobic, have high blood pressure or have a heart condition.   So what is it? You stand in a cryochamber for 3-6 minutes with nitrogen filling the chamber at about -225 degrees Fahrenheit.  Why?  It greatly reduces inflammation, provides pain relief, boosts collagen and decreases recovery time.  I felt significantly better in about 90 minutes after my treatment.   Although it is supposed to be safe for everyday use, I would do this again only if I had a lot of pain or a massive amount of soreness.  I definitely believe in the benefits of cryotherapy and think that it is worth a try if you are struggling with chronic pain.

Cryofacial.

The cryofacial on the other hand,  has made it onto my monthly maintenance list.  I absolutely love this treatment.  Unlike regular cryotherapy, you lay on a table instead of standing in a chamber.  You can relax and enjoy a more concentrated cryo--therapy.  The cryofacial is 8-12 minutes and targets your face and neck.  Why?  It tightens the face to reduce wrinkles, reduces puffiness, boosts collagen and allows new cells to regenerate.  Because this treatment is done with a movable and flexible wand, you can use this treatment to work on other isolated areas of your body.  This isolated treatment is ideal for use to heal eczema patches.

Stay Cool.
