Mantra, meditation and workout are three words being put together for a more complete sweat sesh. Mantras are statements that you can repeat to yourself either for encouragement or motivation or just to initiate mindfulness. To set a mantra, clear your mind and allow your thoughts and emotions to flow. What is coming to the surface? You can ask yourself questions to get started if something doesn’t pop up right away. How are you feeling today? Why do you feel that way? Follow your train of thought all the way through to get to the root of what you need to hear. You might find that one of these mantras resonate with you.
I am safe. I am grounded. I am supported. I am enough. I am worthy. I am strong. I surrender. I forgive all. I am present.
You can find your mantra through a brief meditation. Meditation is a practice of focusing the mind on a thought or activity to achieve mental clarity. A pre-workout meditation can help deepen the mind body connection. We have probably heard about that mind body connection in Pilates and yoga, but now you have the tools to bring that connection to any workout you do. Mindful movement can optimize your workout. Be present and clear which each movement effective results through safer movement. There are apps that can help guide you through meditation until you feel like you can master it on your own. Breethe and Headspace are two popular meditation apps.
Take a moment to sit, breathe and get ready for a successful workout.
